As a violist, Erica Joy Burton has become a multi-genre player living in Minneapolis, Minnesota. While at Northwestern University in Illinois, Erica studied under the tutelage of the esteemed professor Roland Vamos. During her time as an undergraduate, she spent her summers at such renowned music festivals as Music Academy of the West, where she studied with Donald McInnes, and Ravinia's Steans Institute, working closely with vocalists in the unique vocal chamber music program. Upon graduation in 2005, she resumed working with Korey Konkol at the University of Minnesota, with whom she had studied as a high school student. Erica has had the honor to perform in master classes for William Preucil, University of Iowa (1995); Robert Mann, Juilliard String Quartet (1997); Cavani String Quartet (1997); Avalon String Quartet (1998); Tom Rosenberg, Artaria String Quartet (1998); Donald McInnes (2003, 2004); Helen Callus (2004); Atar Arad (2004); Patricia McCarty (2005); Thomas Riebl (2005, 2006); Roberto Diaz (2006); and Cynthia Phelps (2006). Lately, Erica has been working as a recording and performing artist in the Twin Cities for such reputable artists as Doomtree, Heiruspecs, P.O.S., Astronautalis, Ashley Gold, Jeremy Messersmith, Dessa, The New Standards, and Los Nativos. Erica has performed at many local venues, including First Avenue, Orchestra Hall, The Cedar, Cause, Hell's Kitchen, and many more.
